What it is

The ChowChow Labs Mortgage Calculator helps Canadians understand the numbers behind buying, renewing and refinancing a home, using Canadian mortgage rules.

Every calculator is free and works without an account. Payments follow Canadian conventions: fixed rates compound twice a year, variable rates monthly, with CMHC-style insurance, minimum down payments and the mortgage stress test built in. You enter your own rate; we never show a rate as any lender’s offer.

Premium (CA$9.99 once or CA$2.99 a month) adds the payment-by-payment amortization schedule, term and lifetime totals, your saved history on every device, and removes ads.

Housing data

Housing market figures come from Statistics Canada and CMHC under their open data licences, which allow commercial use with attribution. Next to every chart we show the source, the dataset, its reference period and a link to it.
