Questions you might have
What is the difference between term and amortization?
Amortization is how long it would take to pay the whole mortgage off, often 25 or 30 years. The term is how long your current contract and rate last, usually 1 to 5 years. When the term ends you renew, often at a different rate, and keep going until the amortization runs out.
Can I use my own mortgage rate?
Yes, and you should. Enter the rate your lender or broker quoted. We never show a rate as a bank’s offer. The default is only an example to start from.
What does Premium include?
The full payment-by-payment and yearly amortization schedule, term and lifetime totals (principal, interest and balance at renewal), payoff dates and interest saved with extra payments, and no ads. CA$9.99 once or CA$2.99 a month. The calculators and basic results stay free.
Is this site connected to a bank?
No. ChowChow Labs runs this site independently. It isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by any bank, lender, Statistics Canada, CMHC or government body, and we don’t sell your information to lenders.
